Student Study Room

What is it?

The Study Room gives your students access to online resources that you have selected.

How?

Easy. If a resource has the open book icon () it's accessible from the Study Room. Simply click on the book and that resource is automatically available to your students.

How do I set up the Study Room?

First of all you need to set a student password: go to My Science Online and select Change student password. Enter your own password (not your User ID), create a student password, confirm it and click on 'Save changes'. Choose something easy to remember, such as the teaching group name.

How do students use the Study Room?

All they need do is enter the site using the 'Students Enter' button on the splash page. They will need your User ID and the student password that you have created for them. You can set your school system to add the student password to the list.

If you want students to use the Study Room from home, simply give them your User ID and the student password. They will only gain access to the work you have set them. The rest of the site is closed to students.

The information you give your students will look something like this:

User Name: Myschool (the user name allocated to your institution)
Password:  10ABC  (this is case-sensitive: 10abc will not work)

Can I put my own work in here?

Yes, if your school runs its own intranet or web site, you can link your own activities to Science Online resources. You can also add any sites on the World Wide Web that you would like students to use.

Enter the Study Room as a teacher using the link below and simply copy the address (URL) and paste it into the 'URL' box. Give it a title in the 'title' box and click on the 'Add a URL' button. To remove any resource, click on the red cross next to it and it will be removed from the Study Room.

Go to the Study Room.
